What/who is your career inspiration? Why?
The beautiful natural surroundings like the daily sunrise/sunset, movement in the sky/water, and especially the natural wool fibers themselves. Sheep wool is my main source of materials to create all wool felted artworks & to share the process of felt-making.
What advice would you have for someone interested in your field?
“Step into one’s shoes” is particularly helpful when I start planning for any new fiber arts integration unit or felting workshops. Think like the students (age 4 – 80s). Visualize yourself doing their jobs. Set up learning targets & assessments. All these can help with organizing schedules, materials and the creative process. Lastly, one must take risks and develop good work ethic.
